The footers being poured. I have no idea what that means.
I have never been so happy to see a hole in the ground. They started moving dirt on a Friday and the actual hole got dug this Monday, the 24th. People of the Midwest--you have us to thank for this recent rainy spell. No rain forever, and then we dig a hole in the ground and it has rained some every day since. Thankfully our crappy clay soil does not do well holding moisture and they were able to pour concrete yesterday. Hard to feel so excited and so nervous. This is a big deal and I still can't believe it is actually happening. Andy has become a drive by stalker of the workers. He admits to checking on them every morning while taking the girls to school, a couple of times compulsively during the day, and then again when picking the girls up after school. He also asks me if I drove by there on my way home from work. The girls school is across the highway, and they like to watch what is going on during recess. Good news is that our builder lives two doors down from us and the guy doing all the dirt work and concrete work lives across the street. Complaints or concerns can be handled with just a walk to the mailbox.
The guy with the concrete pouring thingy is pouring it basically where our dining room will be. The guy in the red shirt is at the front door/porch area. Blue shirt guy is in the garage. On the right side of the picture where the concrete boxes around that dirt is where the covered back porch is. The four squares that are close together is the staircase. You can see our neighbors house in the top of the picture(to the North). On the South side of our house is the pool, you can see how it sits in relation to our house in the last post.
Duplex life is going fine. We are settled in, enjoying the cool weather, and thankful to be busy most weekends so we are not on top of each other all day. It still smells funny sometimes, and we have a plumbing problem with the upstairs toliet. It is safe, it is clean(for the most part) and it is HOME, for now.
