and now a week later....The Mayor is G-O-O-D good! We are almost 5 days post-op and I have been pleasantly surprised at how well Tess is doing. Besides having her tonsils and adenoids removed, she also had the turbinates in her nose cauterized. This nose procedure resulted in her not being able to breathe out her nose AT ALL. Can you say SNORE? Her throat gets very dry and ouchy, but the pain has been controlled with medication and time.
Initially she couldn't find anything that felt or tasted good to eat, which was a problem when it came time to administer medications. Plus she was so hungry. By Thanksgiving she could eat mashed potatoes, jello salads, chicken broth, and some small bites of turkey, which made me very thankful.
Every day she is able to go a little longer between doses of pain medication, and when a little squeak of air gets through her still swollen nasal passages, we all shout for joy. It truly is the little things that are a big deal sometimes.
My thanks to everyone that took time to pray for us, think of us, and send an encouraging word to us. I passed the good wishes on to Tess, and I think she realized how many people truly love and care about her.
God is good.
More on the healing process as it happens......
